This will include the management of the corridor of the PCT, not just the actual tread. This would likely include view shed considerations, noise, etc. I haven’t really check into this in depth yet; just found about this on Facebook today.

Hm, it was working. Now I can't find anything about this on the PCTA website at all!

Maybe they decided to backpedal and shelve the idea for now, so they took it down. Can't remember where I first saw it; I think an email on the listserv.
Oh well, nothing to see here. Carry on.
And no fighting! (people are rabid around here lately)

Yeah; jeezus, it's been brutal. Like jackals haranguing baby bunnies.
At any rate, if a proposal for a special PCT management unit were to come up, I might be for it, but then again I might not. The rabid dogs can tear each other to shreds about the PCT management unit until they're nothing but a pile of quivering globules of cellulite and throbbing veins.

I see the link is broken again. I seem to recall something about it on the PCTA page too.
My guess this is what is driving it. Too bad threads like this get ignored in the Stewardship section.
For those who are to lazy to click links and read for them selves i will summarize.
Congress does not want to pay for the trail maintenance backlog.
Instead congress is address a liability issue that has discouraged some national forests from utilizing volunteers. The goal is to increase the use of volunteers by 100%.
The bill also directs the Secretary of Agriculture to select between 9 and 15 areas for increased trail maintenance. So there's the potential for a PCT management area.
