Yeah, just how many watercourses have the name "creek" in them in this state, anyway? Talk about redundant! biggrin.gif

Does anyone know what it takes to get a name changed for a geographic feature?

Funny as I see a "Propose or Change A Name" link to the left on that page as I said. But I had not tried it. Getting too many redirects error.

I wonder how open they would be to a name change on the grounds of redundancy. It seems like a lot of research is required for the proposal

Yep, you'll need to do your research, have all your ducks in a row and be able to convince probably a group of folks. Given the amount of redundancy they'll probably not buy it. But if you can find a valid reason for changing it to some name (based on some history about the location) they might just buy it. If you are successful then you'll have to convince the public to begin using your new name and that'll take a good while. Maps don't get updated overnight. And there are a lot of maps out there. All kinds of hard copies. Good luck!
