The Nikon D40 with the 18-55mm lens is nice and light for hiking.

In a modern body the Nikon D3300 is a very compact and lightweight DSLR body. I was fondling a D750 earlier today. Oh boy, just what I need, a bigger, heavier camera, but .... WANT!

Gotta say, I am enjoying the heck out of my new Panny GX7, which is only 1.5 pounds combined with a 28-280mm equivalent lens. I am happy with the results and the compact size and weight. And I wasn't even shooting RAW today.

For anyone thinking of investing in the Nikon D750 be aware of this issue some of these cameras have with lens flare. Apparently there is a defect in some D750s where the sensor is slightly elevated, causing issues with lens flare when shooting at certain angles. I was thinking of saving my pennies for this camera, but now I'm having second thoughts.
