Outstanding moonset Jim ... great comp and excellent B&W processing. The 2nd Easton Glacier image is over-the-top gorgeous! A few from the Coast Redwoods in Jan:
You'll not find many redwoods close to the beach. They prefer freshwater riparian zones and salt free air, so most of these are either Sitka spruce or Doug fir.

Thanks silence, I worked that tree for quite a while one morning - too many footprints to make the dunes worthwhile. Your first redwood/fir shot is just what I've been looking for on my two trips down there, but never found. It has always been too cold or rainy for fog, so I guess I'll just have to go back in the summer. After Death Valley we swung over to the coast and drove up and stayed in Prairie Creek also. We did the James Irvine/Clintonia/Miner's Ridge loop for a very enjoyable and quiet day.

I find the coast redwood very challenging to shoot ... both in color and B&W. Their girth and color aren't as striking as the Giant Sequoias ... it's their towering height that inspires and is so difficult to capture. We had morning and evening fog in the meadows that would drift slightly into the groves, but not as much as we had hoped for. Still these redwoods are amazing ... and humbling. I fractured my knee last Nov and did my first hike here ... along Prairie Creek, up the first Zig Zag, then down West Ridge ... didn't see a human soul all day ..

I just went back and converted a color version of this ... I think I like the B & W much better. It was shot in the redwood grove along Prairie Creek.
I converted an earlier color version to this ... shot while walking along the Prairie Creek trail in the early hours of the morning

If you watch Jaws backwards its the touching story of a giant shark who pukes up so many people the town is forced to build a beach.
