When I was little, we had this book... and Brontosaurus was one of the cooler dinosaurs. However
Quote:
The trouble is that shortly after being discovered, the Jurassic creature fell into an identity crisis. The name for the long-necked, heavy-bodied herbivore Brontosaurus excelsus—the great “thunder lizard”—was tossed into the scientific wastebasket when it was discovered that the dinosaur wasn't different enough from other specimens to deserve its own distinct genus.
I don't remember exactly when this discovery was made, but I do remember being rather dismayed by the whole thing. Where art thou, brontosaurus? Well, as the article states, it may turn out the Brontosaurus does indeed deserve its own long established name. As a true believer, I have to say that I never harbored a doubt that one of my favorite dinosaurs would be someday be vindicated. biggrin.gif up.gif up.gif

Touron is a nougat of Arabic origin made with almonds and honey or sugar, without which it would just not be Christmas in Spain.

We had the same book on the shelf in my boyhood home. I have never used "the A word" when addressing brontosaurus. He will always remain "the thunder lizard" to me. Live long and prosper brontosaurus.

Yeah, I saw one in my backyard after I unsuspectingly ate all of my housemate's cannabis losenges (I thought they were candies).

Some people have better things to do with their lives than walking the dog. Some don't.

Who says the Brontosaurus is extinct? After all wasn't the giant squid extinct until one popped up from the deep. Perhaps there is a Bronto just waiting to be discovered in the Amazon cool.gif Just like the recently discovered Malasaurus in E WA.Malasaurus

I dunno about Squid, but Coelacanth for sure... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coelacanth Coelacanths were thought to have gone extinct in the Late Cretaceous, but were rediscovered in 1938 off the coast of South Africa.

I still have that book... and I am not ashamed to say it.

60 pounds lighter but not 60 points brighter.
