Got to the top of this lonely peak today with a friend. Stefan had already been up there a few years ago. The peak was first climbed in 1958 and our party today was the fifth ascent recorded in the register. So on average it gets summited about every nine years. Beckey describes the peak as having "formidable brush and cliff" and is "everywhere rugged". He could underscore those words. We approached the peak from the South Shore road for Spada Lake and then hiked up an abandoned logging road for Elk Creek. We used a running belay for the final gully section. Just under 11 hours from car-to-car. Views to the north included Sheep Gap, Monte Cristo peaks. To the west was Vesper and Sperry.
