I've been taste testing stuff out of my BP food cupboard, and have surmised that both the dried spuds and the dried refried beans are past their prime. Wondering if people have favorites of either that they would like to recommend. Dayhike Mike had some dried spuds last weekend that were 100% better than any I've tried before, so I'm thinking some might be better than others. Also, tell me about your favorite dried soups. There are so many out there, and many taste just like cardboard.

My favorite dried soups are Knorr 'Souperb' Express Soups, specifically the Tomato and Pasta soup.
Knorr has five other soups in this line including Cheddar Broccoli, Chicken Noodle, Chicken Vegetable with Pasta , Garden Vegetables with Pasta, and Potato Leek.

I like the instant Miso soup you can find at Trader Joes. Especially in fall/spring. up.gif As for potatoes... those flavored, instant ones in the small bags are really good. Dunno bout the beans. I usually just get those in the bulk bins.

i second the trader joe's instant miso soup. excellent stuff, and cheap. you can't go wrong buying knorr anything, everything they make is good. my favorite dried beans are santiago brand, available from united grocers/cash & carry stores. they have refried and black beans, both are great and are so much better than canned or bulk.. i like betty crocker potato buds, they don't have the best texture but they do taste good smile.gif i like nile spice soup cups, repackaged into ziplocks. minnestrone and mushroom are my favs smile.gif

Bear Creek soups in the big tin at costco or supermarket are excellent, especially the creamy wild rice soup the potato soup is likewise very good. The problem with the potato soup is that it takes a long time simmering to cook the potatoes until they are soft.

The rilly good kind of spuds I had from Dayhike Mike are "Idahoan" and they have them at QFC. Also Alessi Tuscan White Bean soup--good enough to eat at home. If anyone finds this in a store anywhere, lemme know.
EDIT: Just found it at QFC. YUM!
