(I'm sure this topic has been visited before, but it seems appropo) The scenario - you've just put max effort into enjoying the great outdoors, it's just past sunset, and of course, you're starving! Where do you go for soul-satisfying grub and brew? I nominate the North Bend Bar & Grill for I-90 adventures. Good brews on tap, and the chicken quesadillas are hard to pass up! BTW, they serve food until 10:30 PM...a TNAB fav!

Cheers, Mesahchie Mark

I always crave burgers when coming down a trail after a long day, so any place that has good char-broiled burgers and a thick pint of amber usually gets my vote burger.gif

I am probably the only person who will NEVER eat that bar and grill in N. Bend. They forgot my order-and fed everyone else in my group-and it was the owner serving us!!!! Had the guy just said "hey I am sorry" it would have been fine. But nothing! He just shrugged his shoulders like "whatever". Now that other place in North Bend....the one that was on Twin Peaks with the cherry pie-that one is good! Good service also. I love stopping at Wally's Drive In at Buckley. The Black Diamond Bakery in BD. The little greasy spoon cafe in Enumclaw..Cynthia's Pony Express or something..always packed-great waitress staff. In Port Angeles we eat at the Olympic Bagel Company going in, and at the mexican joint leaving..I cannot rember the name, but it is the one that has sister restuarants in Forks and the corner of Hwy 7 and 12 (Great for Packwood trips.) All 3 of the places are equally good! El Cazador in Sequim serves massive bowls of chips and large plates of food. Urp! Loggers Landing in Quillibilly..... In Aberdeen we love Duffy's-there are two, we eat at the one farther away from Walmart. Totally old school-and cheap!

Had an excellent Olympus burger at the Quinault store and snack bar (which is for sale) on South Shore Road recently post-hike. Double patty with Canadian bacon and cheese, mmm mmm. Bummer though was the shake machine was busted. Used to stop at JJ's nearby for berry pie, but heard its closed.

Half the fun of a trip is the post-hike grub. I do very little in S Cascades, so it's nice to have those tips from folks, in case I go someday. Mtn Loop: Mountain View Cafe. everthings' good. Waitresses surly and freindly all at the same time. Darrington: Glacier View Cafe or that mexican place in Arlington. Haven't been that way in awhile tho, since the floods of '03. NCascades: Twisp Brewery, Winthrop Brewery, (not a fan of Duck Brand, but everyone seems to be in love with the damn place, so I'll throw it out there too. NCascades: Good Food (except the sanitary conditions are poor nowadays, so I might have to bump Clark Cabins up as the replacement grubbin' in that area as far as I'm concerned. I'm very tolerant of down-home atmosphere, but that place is getting ridiculous) EDIT 8/15/05. Good Food is definately on the hit list. Unsanitary, even by my standards. I-90: Ken's Truck Town. Excellent shakes and malts. I don't go into NBend if I can help it. I figure getting back to Seattle is city enough, soon enough. I like to keep out of towns as long as I can. Hwy 2: Zeke's. I can never wait til I get to the Sultan Bakery to eat. Chiwawa Rv area: 59'er Diner's irritating, but I'll take it 'cause it's all there is. Please someone tell me if there's another place. Teanaway, Cle Elum: Sunset Cafe, or that mexican place. Quilauyte: 3 Rivers store/restuarant/campground/gas station/local dog hang-out. the BEST shakes and malts ever! Local souvenirs in the store, books by local authors, too. Forks: Forks Cafe Entiat area/Cashmere: Rusty's Drive Inn. Went to Mineral Springs Resort a few months ago; very uninteresting food. Great fireplace in there, tho. Leavenworth: still searching, but there are good tips on another thread (Kodiak Pizza and some other place) Grand Coulee: La Presa mexican, couple miles outta town toward Wilbur Roslyn: That pizza place, but it's crowded Tonasket area: Grab what's open and be glad about it.

All you North Bend Bar and Grillers are missing out on Gordy's two miles east at exit 32. It's quite a bit pricier, but the ribs are spectacularoriffic! Plus afterwards you can ride the dinosaur home. Oh wait, I only feel like a Flintstone after eating there. Duh.

I usually stop at one of the places already mentioned in Marblemount on my way out the the N.Cascades, but this past weekend, we drove all the way to Mt. Vernon before grabbing grub at the skagit river brewery It was worth the wait up.gif

Quark list is fairly comprehensive but missed the A&W in Issaquah. The ambience is great with 50's-60's memorabilia all over the place complementing the hamburgers and fries menu.

It's always something cooked on the tailgate and something alcoholic and something caffinated. Except when it is near midnight before I get out, then it is something spooned out of the can cold and scarfed without tasting.

This the year!!

I was in Tonasket this past weekend and my daughter and son in law took me to "Sarge's Burger Bunker" for dinner. The food was great. I had a taco soup that was incredible. Be forwarned, the cooks, waistresses, and other employees dress in camo fatigues and for decorations they sport demilled pineapple hand grenades, howitzer shells, and assorted militaria along the windows.
