The same. Blackberrys are harder to come by nowadays what with timber companies wanting you to pay. But they buy from the locals and I've been lucky enough to buy at least one whole pie and have it delivered. Need to start thinking of making another trip with friends.

Garlic-loving coast hikers take note: The restaurant in La Push (the only one) has "garlic fries". I thought it would be fries sprinkled with garlic powder before frying, or maybe with garlic salt. Nope! Got a plate of fries huge enough to feed 2 (maybe 3) people, topped with a pile of FRESH garlic shavings. Yowza! Couldn't finish 'em and didn't want them to stink up the car on the drive home. NB - their coffee is acceptably Seattle-strong and breakfasts decent. Best restaurant bacon I've ever had (ie, fresh, not pre-baked) They open at 8 am.

La Tarasca - Authentic Mexican Food 1001 W. Main St., Centralia, Wa. 98531 (360) 736 7756 Just a little ways off I-5 - Mellen Street "Outlet Mall" exit - I first ate in this place in 1997, just after they first opened, and thought it was fabulous. I wish it hadn't taken me so long to get back down there again, as it is still every bit as fabulous as I had remembered. Family owned and operated - mom and auntie and nephew and daughter are cooking and serving the food, and it's the real deal - not the usual "Taco Bell" crap most Mexican joints dish out now. The "Special of the Day" Chile Guajillo ($9.95) was wonderfully spicy and delicious and the Beef Tostada ($3.50) was excellent. No chips and salsa. No Wi-Fi. No espresso. No reservations. No corny mariachi music playing from scratchy overhead speakers. Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 11-7 Friday, Saturday: 11-8 Closed Tuesdays Well worth checking out.

No chips at a mexican locale!!? You gotta have the chips for Mexican. I always judge a place based on the chips! And the salsa at times!! When the cheap ones that come in the industrial sized big bags are presented pre-meal along with a cup o' pace picante or similar you know its gon' be a below average dining experience!

We stayed i a little town in southern Idaho called Jerome, we found that the town had pretty much 2 food choices, Mexican and Mexican. Can’t recall the name of the one we chose but it was awesome and very authentic, unlike the chain mex places. I am thinking that any establishment in Jerome would be as awesome.

Not northwest but randomly found a place called The Montana Club while staying overnight in Boseman MT...had the seafood trio, BBQ skewered jumbo prawns, Parmesan crusted Halibut, and grilled Silver Salmon, with fresh sauteed veggies and a side garden salad. Best food in a long time, about 30 bucks or so with tip.

If you ever hike around Priest Lake, Idaho I highly recommend the Mooseknuckle in Coolin, I liked their brisket sandwich and this week I had their grilled chicken sandwich with sweet peppers and blue cheese crumbles, simply awesome! Hills resort is also very good, they offer fine dining and a bar menu and lakeside deck seating outside the lounge I recently had their hot wings and they were excellent. Millies on Hwy 57 has pretty good food too a woodfire pizza oven. Wings are very good too but half the size of Hills and about the same price.

We were just up on Highway 20 and happened to stop at 5b's Bakery on Main Street in Concrete. It's without a doubt the best gluten-free bakery in Western Washington and they have a huge selection of fresh, frozen and dining-in baked goods. Since I have a gluten allergy, I may start mail-ordering from them rather than settle with what's available in stores.
