I edited my original post re: Good Food in Marblemount.
That place is filthy . I know Skagit Co. has health standards, and the kitchen is supposed to comply, but I don't trust anyone there to comply if the health inspector isn't right there all the time. I ain't a neat house keeper, I admit. But I'm smart enough to change my habits* if I owned a restaurant and thought there was even a slight chance that possibly a customer might drop in unexpectedly.
They're nice people, the people at Good Food, but that doesn't mean they're clean.
I might be wrong about the cleanliness of the kitchen, but I personally don't want to take any more chances.
*no, I'm not a nun. I mean cleaning habits.

in Enumclaw both the Safeway and QFC deli offers good values. There is a nice breakfast and lunch time restaurant called the Kettle. You’d likely never find it unless you knew were to look. Here’s the address: 1666 2nd Ave. They offer huge portions, very reasonable prices and can seat a lot of folks. Charley’s just at the very south end of Enumclaw on hiway 410, and they too have great food and good prices.

Zig Zag in off Highway 26 and Lolo pass Road. I doubt many people on the forum go that way much but if you do it is the best pizza I have every tasted and of course a selection of Oregon microbrews are on tap.

There's a tavern to the left of 59'er. Try it. I liked it. Needed to make a phone call one night a coupla months ago--a drunk person in the bar let me use her cell phone. While I was making a phone call another lady was making the moves on my partner and kept asking OVER and OVER "Haven't you been in here before?"

I would have to say the best pre-hike grub is at The Sunbreak Cafe in Auburn. Pretty far south but by far my favorite breakfast spot. All the breakfasts are served with hashbrowns made with baby red potatos and banana bread. Super Yummy

Capturing all this info
|
|
|
Hey Tom, is there any chance of setting up an NWHikers wiki where we can save some of this info on places to eat so it's easier to find? It's getting hard to extract a compact list from this thread.
Or is there another Seattle-related wiki that would be a good place to add a page?

I was thinking of a full-fledged wiki, so we could create some structure and have restaurants in different areas on separate pages, but also pages with other FAQs.
An example is the Cycling wiki here. The software he uses (MediaWiki) is a common choice.
(Should we continue this in the Support forum?)

Speaking of pre-hink eats, let's not forget the Maltby Cafe off 522--I think I'm still working off that last cinnamon roll!
