A blinking will now appear (beside the Forum Index link) when you get a new private message. If you have unread (but no new) messages it will display a non-blinking . Hopefully this will alleviate problems with some folks not noticing they have new or unread PMs due to pop-up blocker software.
Those of you who don't like pop-ups may now want to turn off pop-up notification in your profile. I would also recommend this for those of you who inadvertently click on the pop-up notification in the middle of posting a message and lose a draft of what you were composing.
