Thinking of doing the summit of Wedge Mtn. and wonder who has done it and the condition of FS road 7300 and 7305 and can I get to the 4100' level or how high can I get up ? Thanks in advance.
Haven't done it this year, but have been up there several times in the past. Road is usually in decent shape; have always driven in a truck. I've heard that sometimes part of the road may be gated, but gates have always been open for me.
Road end is about 4600' and it's about 1.5 mile or so hike to the ridge at about 6200'. True summit of Wedge is about 6900', about a mile further. Great views out to the Enchantments from the ridge.
Thanks Kleet I was reading about the true summit 6885' in 75 Scrambles in wa. and figure hey, with the cost of gas I need to pick off some trips, especially that close with the reported great views over Snow Lakes and The Enchantments.
Done it a few times, including last fall (See my TR via Search). View into the Enchantments is awesome. Saw a BIG bear up there one year and tracks last fall. A high clearance vehicle makes things easier for getting to the unofficial trailhead.

I followed Mountain Home Rd. from the Rt. 2 Leavenworth side to the 4500' level, the end of the road and access to Wedge Mtn. were just up the road, but overgrown scratching the crap out of the truck superficially. Does anybody know what the access is like off SR 97 ?, shorter ? you could see the back side of Wedge / ridgeline. The road had short sections of minor ruts, but was generally OK. Very dusty for sure. A recon trip to check access for a future trip.
