Hey people,
I have two q's
1-My boots have started to smell bad...it is not from stinky feet, it smells like mold! I've always let them dry out before putting them on again, but I think the humidity in Portland is not letting them dry out completely. Any tips on how to get rid of or prevent mold in boots? Or at least the smell?
2-Do you guys recommend conditioning the shoes? My shoes are suede and partners' shoes are waterproof leather.
Thanks alot for reading. Happy hiking!

I used to have suede boots and I brushed them down after most hikes and sprayed them with water repellant. The water repellant helped alot. I used whatever they sell at Volume Shoes. They lasted for about 15 years though it was mostly sunny summer hiking.
Bad smelly feets smell=newspaper. That will take the badness away.
As far as making the boots dry, whether they are nubuck or regular leather, I use snow seal. Clean boots, dry if necessary, coat heavily with snow seal. Put in oven at lowest heat for about 15 mins or until snow seal has disappeared. Don't forget about boots. Repeat. Done. Better than goretex liners insofar as the boots won't be nearly as hot!
