Yeah, that episode had me shaking my head more than once. Since it was a thermal hotspring there must have been a warm bone dry air vent drying his clothes on the bush....... agree.gif agree.gif agree.gif
Is that the one where he's wallowing in mud?

Given a couple of weeks for the process to take place, I would agree.

He flirts with hypothermia constantly--I'm always yelling at the tv about that. Aside from fall avoidance, hypothermia avoidance is the #1 backcountry survival priority.

huh.gif I sure would like a back up team if i ever end up in a "survival situation" ykm.gif

rolleyes.gif He flirts with hypothermia because he has a back up team so he is never in a true "survival situation"

At the beginning of "Man Vs. Wild" there is a disclaimer about how Bear and his crew receive support in accordance with health and safety regulations. This always makes me curious - what regulations? When you're in the middle of Siberia in winter, or some South American jungle, what regulations are really applying? I believe this is just cheap justification for his getting to sleep in a warm bed at night and not having to actually survive on bugs and berries. On the other hand, Les Stroud ("Survivorman") has no crew and no support. He films it all himself and is completely alone for long periods of time. You can often see how the lack of sleep and food is truly affecting him. While I agree that his personality isn't as flamboyant as Bear's, I find his show far more compelling. The only thing I've really taken away from "Man Vs. Wild" is that I know call flowing rivers of ice "glass-yers."

They're advertising the "series finale" of Survivorman tonight at 9pm. I guess it really is done for good. frown.gif

That is a bummer, he signed off on the last show tonight saying he's going on too new adventures. I'm wondering if he's planning on spinning off a new show? He's always had the most realistic survival show far better than Man vs Wild.

He did have explosive diarrhea and the pukes. up.gif I bet he was hoping he was dead or at least hanging from a rope on the side of a cliff. May as well go out with a bang. hockeygrin.gif

Bear Grylls was on some island in Sumatra. He said he could combat the loneliness and hopelessness of being stranded on an island by getting his adrenaline up. So he ripped off his shirt and started doing pull-ups on a tree branch. up.gif up.gif up.gif up.gif He is wrong however, when he says a coconut contains up to a liter of water. I know first hand after all my experiences with coconuts, the most I've ever got out of them is about a cup of liquid.

woah!!! somebody who has read this entire thread: is the consensus that people think the Survivorman is actually a Man? like a non-weenie? like a good example? is the consensus that the term 'survival' can even be applicable if there is a camera crew and on sight massage therapist just out of the shot?

Don't get Bear Grylls and Les Stroud confused. Les is the real deal.

A fuxk, why do I not give one?
