Expect about $8/hour... and some discount privileges.
to work 10 or 15 hours a week to get the 50% discount.. the pay is not the important thing here.

And what exactly is wrong with being forced to hang out with young attractive hiker chicks, getting stuff 1/2 price and, and I say, being renumerated to the tune of eight smackers per hour??

don't believe everything you think

so let's say you work 10 hours a week, and buy $2000 worth of stuff for $1000. That's a lotta gear for backpacking. You save $1000. Say you work for 6 months and quit, or you work 240 hours total. Then your labor you "spent" at REI is worth $4.17/hour ($1000 save / 240 hours). So your total "pay" is $8 + $4.17 = ~ $12 per hour. Course, the 4.17 is income tax-free. Except you pay sales tax. Which if you are married is still better than the probably 25% income tax rate. If single you are probably in the 0 or 10% tax bracket. Or... you could get a job that pays more than $12/hour, and buy stuff at the normal 10% discount, or stuff on sale, and end up way ahead than working at REI.
