Needed a quickie on Saturday so decided to head up to Dirty Harry's Balcony. The abandoned logging road was a sheet of ice near the bottom where the stream flows down the road. Fortunately the sides were navigable to avoid the ice. A relatively fresh 2-3" coating of snow over hard pack made the rest of the way a joy to walk. Made it to the Balcony faster than anticipated so after snapping a few pics decided to go find the Museum. Continued up the road, made an educated guess and stumbled upon the goods. Up and down in 3 hours, including a fair amount spent taking pictures. Fun little hike if you are short on time. A few pics.

I would like to go back and see the truck. It's been almost 20 years... and lots of gray hair... and a few extra pounds.

Thanks for the comparison pic. The trees seem to have grown quite a bit in 20 years. I figured you would have stopped by a few weeks ago when you did the peak.

I might have if I could remember where it was. It used to be visible from the route. Since the trees grew that seems not to be the case. I had not been back to the peak in the intervening 20 years.

Peppersteak, Harry was a logger. Karen has a few tidbits here.

It’s a GMC 2 ½ ton 6X6. At a guess, it’s WWII surplus.

I think it was used as a logging skidder. There is an old LaSalle, or Cadillac, motor mounted in the bed, that looks like it used to power a winch.
Harry used to live of the MFK. Any else remember the old logging equipment MFK road, shortly before it joined back up with the upper road? There used to be a water truck, and a 1950's Mack logging truck parked there. Thats where Harry lived.
