Couldn't find that here but did watch this.
What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

I watched that doc a month or so ago; it's more like "reality TV" than a conventional doc. I was very surprised by how much danger the family was in, even after they were across the NK border, ie, some of those countries will return the fugitives to NK if caught. I've always wondered about the weird paranoia of the Kim "dynasty". They should know they'd never be invaded b/c they don't have anything any perceived hostile country would want. But clearly, if most of the population had any idea what the outside world was really like, their government wouldn't last long. No wonder their repression and propaganda is so pervasive.

I didn't watch it, but I'd be wary of taking "documentaries" like this at face value. One, because the "public broadcasting system" is little more than another cog in the US imperial propaganda machine at this point, with an obvious interest in painting America's perceived enemies in a bad light when it serves our imperial ruling class (see anything on the network about, e.g., Russia, Iran or China). Two, because some of these defectors are obvious grifters who find that they can achieve fame, fortune and influence by exaggerating and lying about their experiences for Western audiences who have been conditioned by the aforementioned propaganda. For a great example of the latter, see Yeonmi Park (hilariously exposed along with other defector-grifters here).
None of which means that there aren’t bad things happening to people in North Korea or that the subjects of this documentary are lying—just be aware that you might be buying into lies and propaganda.
