Gggrrrrr... I wish I could've taken you up on the offer to be on that trip!!! I'm quite certain it was just a tad more fun than slaving away for the man all weekend...

We started up the trail at 9am. The snow was still rock hard and very slippery. I knew from previous experience and from recent trip reports that the bridge over mountaineers creek would be 'spicy', and it lived up to my expectations. We strapped on crampons for the delicate walk across; a slip here would lead to one rescue scenario I hoped to avoid. I figured coming back across would be more difficult the next day, as the snow would be soft in the afternoon - and it was, but more on that later.
slobber.gif So NICE! Really excellent pictures. I'm just curious, would it have been feasible to just dig out that bridge to make it safer? Or was it just too hard to dig?

We couldn't have dug it out on the way in because it was frozen solid. On the way out, we contemplated it, and actually started to. It would have been quite a project as the snow was almost 5 feet tall. Once you start a project like that, you are committed to finish it. We got to the 'all or nothing' point, and gave up. We found another crossing, but still ended up wasting about an hour.

I'm not always sure I like being older but being less stupid has advantages. http://www.flickr.com/photos/32121172@N00/sets/
