Headed up past Roslyn on Saturday and climbed Davis Peak and some other unamed hump to its west.
Not much to say about the route - pleasant forest walking with gladed terrain all the way to the summit.
We encountered snow right past the turn-off to Salmon la Sac campground on the road in. A subaru managed to drive higher, but there is substantial snow on the road between 2600 and 2800' feet with a steep, unprotected drop and I wouldn't recommend trying to drive it.
Consolidated snow on the 1+ miles of road walking to reach the trailhead, but once in the forest, the trail was apparent in fits in and starts and nearly snow free up to about 4000' where it breaks onto more open slopes.
Great views from the top of Cathedral Rock and Daniel - though looked quite stormy towards Seattle. From Davis, we traversed the ridge to a slightly higher summit and wrestled our way around a dead tree for a photo op. A 1000' glissade back to our tracks in the basin rounded out an altogether pleasant day.
Good warm-up trip. Brought, but did not use, snowshoes.
We were snowed on heavily on the ride back to Seattle, but only spritzed on for the hike.
