Check out these photos from this WTA report from yesterday, Saturday, January 16, 2021. Apparently the access road is/was closed two miles out from the beach parking area. Looks like some major high water flooding. Log and driftwood debris are scattered over the asphalt and around the kiosks. Quote from WTA report: The Mora road to Rialto beach was closed to cars so we hiked on foot. It’s about a 2 mile hike each way. When we arrived, the parking area at the beach was littered with driftwood. We arrived at high tide and the surf was rough and unpredictable so we didn’t feel safe strolling the beach. Nonetheless, it was a beautiful scene and we’re glad we made the effort. The park website (Alerts) says that Rialto Beach is open but can be closed as necessary. Quote: The Mora Campground and Rialto Beach may close on short notice for safety due to hazardous weather or storm conditions. Call the recorded line at 360-565-3131 to check current status and area information (updated twice daily). Edited to correct the date. ~z

There was driftwood over a lot of the roads on Whidbey too during these king tides, especially Ebeys Landing. County snowplows cleared some of them out pretty quickly. We had the highest tide of the year last week right in the middle of the big windstorm.

Wow! My husband always says he wants to be over there for one of those storms and this is why I tell him he will be going on his own!
