I needed a trip after work and this is close to home. Was a nice day till I got off work. Went home and grabbed the gear and headed out for the trail. Was light rain when I got there but after the Maple grove it was grape size drops. Come around the corner to the lake and the air temp dropped from all the snow. It was warm till that. I see they built a bridge after my trip last spring.
I should have taken the shot on the other side. Spent only 10 minutes there cuz I was soaked to the bone. On the way I come across the very strong smell of roses. It was coming from these
Can anyone tell me what there are. Oh and the berries are trying at the lake.
Car to lake to Car was 2 hours flat. Do to weather I'd say I was the only one in the woods.. The trail log said 3 others that day, (Thursday).. Oh, here's the bridge with a Nas Car turn in the end.
Given that Lake 22 is only at 2400 ft, the huckleberry would likely be Vaccinium parvifolium (red huckleberry), V. ovalifolium (oval-leaf huckleberrry), or V. alaskaense (Alaska huckleberry). It is too low for V. delicosum (Cascade blueberry). It looks too scraggly for red huckleberry.
