I took off REALLY early this morning (5:30) to head out to the Olympics with my 13 year old daughter who'd just arrived to stay for the summer. She hadn't hiked at all since last summer and I was intending to go easy but... When we got there around 9:30 the parking area was already lined with cars, although the trails themselves were not very busy. We enjoyed the Lena Lake trail, hitting the lake at a great time, and I decided we could certainly make it further and attempt to go a ways up the Brothers trail. I had all the maps neccessary to show me where we were and although I had somewhat of a clue, I'm afraid it really wasn't as helpful as I thought. I kept on pushing us further and further, "just 10 more minutes, I promise!", in hopes of coming out of the trees and seeing The Brothers up close and personal. We finally gave up at the first bridge past the big blowdown on the Brother's trail. Now, we would love to know just how far we actually hiked today. My daughter totally kicked ass today and it would be awesome to be able to tell her what she actually accomplished (beyond the impressive blisters). Does anyone happen to know how far along the trail that bridge is? Thanks!
