This is not about hiking, but at least it has something to do with mountains. Does anyone know of a place in Seattle where you can get downhill ski rentals at a decent price? I'd like to rent the new (new to me) shaped skis, boots & poles here, rather than putz around up at the Pass.
Thanks,
Cliff

REI's got good cheap rentals.
They only replace rental gear every three years, and this is year 2 for their gear. If you are better than intermediate, the gear may be too soft for you. I got away with renting skis from them last season a few times, but by this season the skis were too clapped out, and I couldn't get them to hold an edge....but keep in mind that I am a pretty aggressive skiier.

Slight thread drift but I think Steven's is having a deal where you get 3 free lessons and rental included for $90. My guess is that's not much above the cost of a rental. To a non-skier like me, it looks like a good deal.

Thanks Allison & PB. I used to be a very agressive skier, but since I haven't skied since 1989 I doubt that I'm still that way! I'll check out REI and that Pro Ski shop at 90th & Aurora. Appreciate it.
