What is the Skinny on Mrs. Ruth? He is she nice or mean? And where is she? What is the scoop. I need a new venture!

She's nice if you are smart. wink.gif Easy walk up. Little Glacier travel. Many do unroped. But that is your call. Outstanding view of Shuksan. Access via Hannegan Pass.

Outstanding views of Shuksan indeed! The views of the interior NCs are great too, but Shuksan dominates and overwhelms.
On the north approach from Hannegan Pass, Mt. Shuksan becomes visible through a notch in the ridge to the west.

Higher up, Mt. Baker shows up in the same notch.

Good Times on Ruth
Incredibly beautiful hike A bit long for some, but worth it for sure NWOG Ruth Trip Report My friend went there last weekend and was able to drive up in a VW Gold within 1 mile of TH. Said there were great conditions, and great turns on the way down if you randonnee! Plus the crevasses are covered up now, not that you ever get near them as long as you stay on the arm or shoulder of the glacier/snowfield Beware in avy conditions though as it is a terrain trap

Agree that the Ruth near Shuksan is a superb location. But note that there's another Ruth near Mt Rainier.
