Here's another aerial I shot last week (complements of American Airlines flight 2816). Glacier Peak and Tenpeak are pretty obvious, but not having climbed much in the area I'm drawing a blank on the rest. Identifying the lake to the very bottom left would probably provide a good point of reference.

Could be. I can pick out Dome, Buckindy(?) and Bonanza above Glacier, but I can't get a read on anything below it. I was thinking maybe Goat, but it doesn't have something that resembles Sloan and Cadet don't seem to be there. I'm not sure about Blanca, because the drainages don't look right to me.

Too small for Blanca. And where is the Columbia Glacier and Kyes Pk? I'm thinking Valhalla Lake. It's gotta be almost due south of Glacier Peak, seeing how Disappointment Peak is lined up with the GP summit.

Looks more like a fruity lake; like Peach or Pear.

I have the advantage of a few other pics wink.gif. I'm leaning heavily towards Square Lake.

Hey Thomas, how was that trip over from deceptions lakes into square? Was it relatively easy? Did you go looking for any of the swallow lakes? What condition was the cabin? TB

BPJ, I suppose "relatively easy" depends on how comfortable you are venturing off trail. I know you've done a lot of off trail stuff so probably no biggie for you, but pick the wrong saddle and you're in for a "shaky knee" descent. I believe the trip report & replies cover your other questions.

Ok, so why do they call it Square Lake? I didn't see alot of squareness in the airplane photo. Maybe this lake wasn't as wild as the other lakes or maybe it wore dexters when everyone else was wearing tennies? What's the etymology of that name? dizzy.gif

Im going to have to try that this summer. A cool trip would be going in via Hyas, up to Decpetions, over to Square, then to swallows. From Swallows to Leland, then up to Granit MTN lakes, then to Robins, and out to Hyas again... TB
