Whew, I've got a lot of catching up to do before I can post my trip report but the last twelve days were spent in Utah, Idaho and Wyoming with the highlight being a climb of Kings Peak, the highest peak in Utah and Gilbert Peak, the third highest. I loved the area, saw lots of moose and state highpointers from all over the USA. In twelve days I got 12 peaks and finished the state of Utah's county highpoints. I'll be updating this with pictures and a decent trip report in a few days. I love the west.

Yes pictures please. A big ole cranky Moose chewing some grass is a great sight and and they won't block you from a summit like a Utah buffalo will.

I realized I had never posted a trip report as promised. The highlight of the trip was finishing up the state of Utah county highpoints by climbing Gilbert Peak, a neighbor of Kings Peak and the county highpoint of Summit County.
I put together a trip report on Gilbert Peak at Summitpost with a few pics.
Click HERE if you are interested in reading that report. No need to repost all of that here.
Other peaks climbed that were special was the American Fork Twins, the highpoint of Salt Lake City county, located high above Snowbird ski area.
It had a great scree descent
Two days prior to doing AF Twins, my son and I made a trip to southern Utah to pick up the county highpoints of Kane and Washington counties.
Signal Peak of Washington county required a 3500 foot climb up the southern ridge to access the peak, which in all was a 4400 foot effort.
Kings Peak entailed an 8 mile backpack to get to a lake where we camped and then another 8 miles to get the peak the next day. Tons of moose in the area
Well, since they weigh a lot, I can get away with saying "tons". One last comment is that the weather in the Uinta mountain range is almost always stormy in the summertime as this picture indicates

AB, we saw at least 12 moose while there. What irritates me about that area is they won't allow a register on King's Peak due to wilderness status but they will allow sheep to graze all over the place. So we had moose, sheep, cattle and I saw some elk tracks, all in the same area. Go figure.
