kids are perfectly welcome but be aware that some revelry is also typically present! we're not talking anything crazy, but when you get this gang together, if you are an early sleeper, it may be judicious to chose a tent spot that is not in earshot of the communal zone!
lots of hikers mixed with dorks tends to make for late nights, if past performance is anything to go by
kids also like airplane dorks sometimes, feel free to tag along and check out the flying... great views

I'm a go. 14-15th works for me.

I loved that story! Thanks, CW.
... But this disturbed me:Quote: | Location already stated above. The flora was thick north slope Tamarack and Douglas Fir.Longitude and Latitude are easily found given the location provided above. |
Wherez the freakin' larches?! I thought this was a larch campout!

? Really. I thought I heard larch was a type of tamarack or that tamarack was a type of larch. I don't know. Just what I thought I'd heard. I'd like to hear more if there are any experts out there... |
You may have heard that from me, but I was as wrong as the day is long. I've been set straight by some Oregonians. Western Washingtonians don't call 'em tamaracks, but easter Wshintonoinans and all Oreganonians do.
I don't know why. I think it has something to do with horizontal graders on backroads.

Tamarack is a type of larch that is native to this continent. It's really what you see in the woods around here. Small cones, very tough, durable wood, and it grows waaaaay up far in the north.
Tamarack is actually the Indian name for this species of larch, IIRC Algonquin. (It's been many years since my forestry classes at TCC. )
It's both a diciduous tree and a conifer. When bucked up, it makes remarkable stove wood as it burns very hot and evenly.
Now, Art Not...where, exactly are you putting on this soire? It's opening weekend of the deer season on the 14th, you know. But, you ought to get in on some magnificent fall colors. If you're going to the upper end of Bethel Ridge, you're likely to have a lot of company..

Its big country Dave. Biiiig country. All the men around there look like Hoss Cartwright and wear 10 gallon hats.
We'll work it out. Are you coming?
Seawall- Great story, but not to worry. Upon further investigation, most bigfoot sightings near Bethel have turned out to be MtnGoat stomping throught the woods looking for lost gliders.
