How long do the larch needles stay? Our permit is for Sept 22-26. Hoping the trees are still golden and the weather decent. Very cool report.

Probably won't be golden by then. But yeah, very nice pics. I totally missed this report the first time around, Opus. smile.gif

Our permit is for the 25th-29th, the very last weekend in Sept. It was the last weekend in Sept. last time too, and the larches were just absolutely goin' OFF... dizzy.gif I'll have to post some of our photos as well, they were totally spectacular. But with the weird summer we've had this year, hard to say if the larches will or won't be doing their thing, Yelsmik. If nothing else, they should be at least STARTING to turn during your trip. wink.gif Let's hope for beautiful sunny bluebird weather! cool.gif

Remember, it's not the fall that kills you - it's the sudden stop at the bottom.

Really depends on the year and the elevation. Typically they just start changing at that time of the year, and they start from the highest elevations. Around Sep 26, best chance for some golden larches will be around Aasgard Pass, if at all. Not sure if fall colors will be delayed by this awesome September that we are experiencing so far, or expedited by the crappy August that we had smile.gif
