Glad I sneaked out yesterday afternoon in the sunshine. Got to trail head at Snoqualmie Pass at 3.15pm with the intention of heading up the PCT towards Kendall Katwalk but on a whim took the

mentioned by B00 in a recent report into Commonwealth Basin and on up to Red Pass from where you can see what you have hiked

Went up a little of the Red Mountain bootpath too for this look down

and was back to the car by 6.15. Several other parties on trail, though, from the number of cars in the carpark, the PCT must have had many more hikers. I think I'm becoming a problem hiker - is there a seven stride program? I just can't stop my feet.

One July day in '92 I connected Red Pass and the PCT into a loop. I hiked the trail from Snoqualmie Pass to Red Pass, then crossed over to the N side and traversed off-trail E c. 2/3 mile below the N side of Red Mtn through scree, heather and Xmas trees, not difficult. Then I crossed SE back over the ridge to get to the PCT a little NE of the Katwalk. That crossing was steep, I could just barely hang on to the dirt and moss. Once on the PCT I continued to "Park Lakes pass" before turning around. You can see the trail ahead all the way to that pass, so it's hard to turn around before that point if you have a hiking problem. wink.gif So that ended up as a 30-mile day, my longest-distance day ever.

Thanks Conrad - it's very comforting to know some feet are more out-of-control than mine dizzy.gif
