Like Sarbar, we headed up to Chinook Pass today, too, with a passel of people. Tamster and I decided our spouses & children needed a day out, so we went to Sheep Lake. It was a gorgeous day, an easy hike, and good company. Here are a few pictures, including the shot of the kids all wandering down the trail (willingly, which was a shocker):

And one of my favorites... we stopped to take a quick break, let the little ones rest, and I made my son stop so I could get a picture of him all geared-out, he threw his hands down, wouldn't look up, and said "let's just GO, mom".

And in answer to someone's question in Sarbar's about the larches, here's a shot I took from the trail... not a very clear photo, hopefully you can see. I'm miles away here, but I believe those are larch.

That is an excellent kid hike. Not too far, not too dificult, with a very pleasant destination.

Thanks! That's my 4-year old son, Joe. He usually loves to have his picture taken, but he had better things to be doing just then... hiking! He was mad at me for making him stop, he just wanted to keep on going. And, I think he wanted to keep up with Tamster's kids, who are both teenagers. He thought he was cool, hangin' with the big kids!
