A couple of summers ago my son and I experienced a truly awesome lighting storm at the Pasayten airstrip. We were sodden, having come down from Dead Lake during the worst of a drenching rain, and trying to find the trail down to the valley below the airstrip. We spent half the next day drying out.

Was you ever bit by a dead bee?

I agree. I used to hike and hunt the area before it was closed. Sometimes it got a little noisy in the area during hunting season. (Yes, the above means I'm an old fart.) It sure would be worse now if it were opened up again. Thanks for the link with the cool pics!

Be even better if they put a nice road into the Pasayten wilderness. It takes quite a while to hike up those trails.

Amazingly its shown on the Wa Gazateer, but not on the aeronautical sectional charts. Should be. For emergency purposes, of course. hockeygrin.gif More info on abandoned airstrips in Wa for enquiring minds.

Wouldnt mind seeing it opened back up. Would give myself and others who cannot hike long distance the opportunity to access the area. Plus, nothing beats landing on a remote mountain strip. hockeygrin.gif
