Saw a pic of this place on the climber's site and thought it looked pretty cool.
I think I'd be more freaked out by the cracks on that ledge (third pic) than venturing out on the boulder. paranoid.gif http://www.norwegen-freunde.com/chris/Wandern/Kjerag.html http://users.erols.com/ahanneman/Kjeragbolten.html http://search.yahoo.com/bin/search?p=Kjeragbolten

This is not too far from Stavanger in Southern Norway, and easy to get to. In a previous "life", we used to fly cargo jets at high speed slightly above a similar cliff over the Lysefjord (known as the "Preachers' Pulpit") at 4 AM out of the morning sun from Gøteborg (Sweden) on the approach into Stavanger. For the aviation enthusiasts: If you ever get to Stavanger, there is an "unofficial" museum right on the airport run by three guys in their 70's who follow up on old reports and extract aircraft from local lakes and fjords to resurrect them (not to flying status though). VERY interesting!

My feet are sweating just looking at those pics. I have fallaphobia, the fear of falling from high places, and thinking about being there makes me twitch. dizzy.gif

Despair is only for those who see the end beyond all doubt.

McPilchuck: "Any fisk?" There are nice mountain lakes; you're looking at saltwater fjords though. Just like SE-AK with the exception of Gulfstream influence: Lots of Salmon and Cod in saltwater, great lake trout and a variation of Dolly Varden in the rivers + lakes.
