I posted something by Bahari on the cover song thread.  I'd heard one of their songs on Pandora years ago, never did a deep dive into their music.  This is more recent, a collab w/ a EDM producer guy.  They used to be a trio but one of them left so they are a duo now.  Quite lovely voices, I should've checked out more of their stuff a long time ago.

Elder Island performs 'I Fold You' from their latest album 'The Omnitone Collection' at Pirate Studios Bristol.  Very slow build, but by minute 4:00 it's terrific.   ~z

I've liked this song for a long time, but I don't know if I've ever seen the video.  There are 2 official versions.  I like this one better (first one is a wedding scene).  Kind of remarkable I think.  Obviously all of these animals are trained and I'm sure there is a wrangler or wranglers just off camera the whole time.  I think the interactions between the band and the animals is beautiful.  The lion and bear cubs are big enough to do some real damage...then an adult bear and black panther show up.  Wow.  The chimp is the coolest.

I've heard a bit of Kacey Musgraves here and there.  I've been driving around with my dad quite a bit the last several days, this song kept popping up on Sirius XM.  Really nice.

Joan Baez Gulf Winds Album - such wonderful voice and poetry. I remember when this was new being lost, almost mesmerized by the album.

Gulf Winds, she premiered some of the songs at a concert in Melbourne when I was there. Bugs were bad, she sprayed some repellant around her head and yelled, “Kill, Kill, Kill” priceless.

I've watched the movie "Before I Fall" several times.  I'm not sure why but this song never really jumped out at me until just now.  Parts of it are featured in a couple scenes, then the entire song plays during the end credits.  It's fairly haunting.  Never heard of the band before.

I came back to GEMS to see if they caught lightning in a bottle with one song or if they had some other good stuff.  I'm on about my 5th song from the KEXP performance, and dang if they all don't sound really good to me.  Gonna link the whole show, it's only 23 minutes.  Highly recommend listening with headphones to really get immersed in the music.

Buffalo Cafe by Jack Gladstone CD Buffalo Cafe

I just got this CD and it is a fantastic combination of music and the story of the Northern Blackfoot people. Jack Gladstone Website

I guess I am not the only one who thought it great, it is produced by Lloyd Maines of the Dixie Chicks (Natalie Maines).

Not sure when, probably recently, they dropped Dixie.  Now they are just The Chicks.

Looks like it was in June of this year.

edit--they aren't the only ones, Lady Antebellum is now Lady A, except there was already a Lady A, so now they have a legal fight over the name.  Is country music heading toward an identity crisis?
