I feel like I've seen the name Dead Sara mentioned when people start talking about female vocalists in rock/metal, but never got around to checking them out. Just stumbled into them while playing around in You Tube. DAMN. Should've done that sooner. This woman can sing. I'm hearing a bit of echoes of Janis Joplin.
(from several of their songs I sampled, this is on the mellower side, kind of a Black Crowes/Spin Doctors thing going on, most of their stuff is edgier) |

Lovely instrumental rendition of that Stan Rogers a capella tune, Ray. One of my favorites.
In Bushwacker's post of Jimmy Buffett, I noticed Mac MacAnally playing in the band. He's a pretty good front man and tunesmith in his own right. I first discovered him thanks to the 'old" KEZX FM that played "The City" regularly back in the 80's.

Odd band name, but this rocks. Some of their videos are totally goofy but this one seems to have something to say.
