Speaking of photos, in the photo you use as part of your signature, what route and what peak is that shown?

If you mean the avatar by my name, that is Arrowhead Moutain. It is located east of Stevens Pass to the south of the highway. My full report with photos is at: Arrowhead Moutain.
The south ridge is a fantastic snowshoe hike to the summit.

Great old pics JimK! I think you and I are about the same age. Even though I grew up hiking around here, I never had the foresight to own a camera until about 8 years ago. When I was a little kid bcak in the sixties, I remember taking drives in my aunt's convertible Chevy Nova quite a bit. Two places that have changed are Sonqulamie Pass because we took the old Hwy 10 through Issaquah and stopped at the XXX (everyone did back then). The drive up to Sunrise at Rainier was awesome, there were no guardrails back then and the road was dirt and gravel. If she has pictures from back then I'll see if I can get them on this thread.

Hey - I took the picture of the old truck on Web (I believe it's only one 'B') Mountain - cool to see it's getting around! That's Steve Fox trying to drive the truck away on a climb of Web Mountain we did in 2000 - there's a trip report (with another picture of the truck) here: http://mattandmaren.com/web_mountain.html

One of Danmasse's pictures prompted me to dive into my archives.
Look at the difference 31 years makes. Both pictures were taken the third week in August.

Lopper, did you mention the loc of those pictures somewhere?
Anyhow, it looks like I have been wandering around these mountains almost as long as you.
Here's a pict of a climbing companion of mine taken in approx 1976 at a location that has changed even more than the one you showed above:

Speaking of old pictures of Pilchuck- here's my Grandpa at the original lookout in 1937!

Very nice photo. That was likely back in the days when the trail started at the river. It was a long way to the summit.
By chance would you have access to any other of your Grandpa's photos?

Here's my Grandma on the trail up. I have all of their phot albums from about 1915 to 1975; I'll see what might be of interest.

OK, 1 more: this is the lookout from the approach trail in 1937. I've checked the albums, many pictures with planes, trains, boats and automobiles; not many on foot!

If it's old and it's local, it will have a great audience here. Throw a few at us as time permits and you may be surpised at the response.
