You might want to wrap up a can of cat chow to put under the tree.

On x-mas morning expect them to be playing with anything but what you might give them! lol. Wrapping paper and ribbons are just much more fun!

it is truly a classic cat moment. is there anyone who hasn't had the tree tipping incident?
as it stands, christmas is a paradise for cats
a climbing tree with dangly bits, for one thing. presents to hide under and climb over and sprawl upon. garlands and strings of lights. boxes, papers, bows, food to steal. new places to hide, pounce, swat, creep, peer out from, snooze...

Anybody noticed that stormy weather makes their cats hyper? My kitties don't act scared... they just act excited and run around as fast as they can and attack each other. Maybe just trying to distract themselves?

Were you hanging those catnip mice on the tree?
One Christmas, my youngest cat Leo was a wild kitten who would race up the trunk of the tree and pop his head out of the top. If only I had had a camera

I think I remember hearing once that cats can detect low barometric pressure somehow and it makes them scared and crazy.

Nice, Rich. My kitten did the same thing the other night... about 3 minutes after I watered the tree. Our tree stand holds a TON of water. And, she broke a bunch of glass ornaments. That'll teach me. Now our tree doesn't stand straight, and we decided to water it every day instead of every 5 days - that was a huge amount of water! You'd think she'd be scared of the tree now, but nope. Now, she gets in the tree and takes the lights out. Every night after work I find the bottom string of lights on the floor.
