I'm sure you'll get a fair price on ebay so don't get miffed at my reply but I wouldn't characterize the eTrex units as reliable. Their antenna reception is anything but reliable under tree cover around here in my experience.

I've got to second Tom's criticism of the eTrex Vista. I have one (old, granted) and its really poor reception makes it a poor choice for the Northwest's heavily forested areas. (Works great at higher elevations and in the open, though.)

I have an ETrex SUmmit and the signal is pretty bad in the trees, even in the winter with the snow weighing the branches down and opening up the sky.

I just sold an eTrex Vista on eBay for $99 as a datapoint. I was happy to get those $$ for it as I've never been pleased with the reception.
I upgraded to the Garmin 60CSx which is extensively discussed in this thread

I have a Summit, and now a Legend, and neither is very impressive under any conditions - I downloaded a software upgrade for the Summit, which made it worse than ever. That's what led me to try the Legend.
Next time, I'll do a bit more research on a GPS with a helix antenna - I understand those work much more reliably.

I have a Legend and a Legend C, I don't experience poor reception. Just another opinion

I started out with a Legend and found over 300 geocaches, most in the woods, so if you know the limitations then it's a very usable GPSr. The Legend allows you to install an external antenna, so that's an option to improve signal.
