I am gearing up to try and go for a nice long hike on Sunday. Here is dilema: I would like to go somewhere down I-90. Don't want too much snow (not really wanting to pack the snowshoes, but will), and want a pretty healthy climb with a nice view. Sounds tough? Please give me some ideas on places that can give me a 8-12 mile hike, with not much snow. Love to climb hills, but lazy w/ packing. Thanks

I am sure there are plenty of recommendations if you are talking about a Sunday in July otherwise I'd say you are out of luck.

Despair is only for those who see the end beyond all doubt.

I might try Amabalis Mtn (southeast of Keechelus Ridge). Good trip to do in winter while snow covers up the logging destruction. It's supposedly off limits to snowmobiles and I don't think you need a sno-park pass this late in the year but I could be wrong. Not sure about snow conditions as I haven't been out lately, but you'll probably want to bring snowshoes.
