enertia's sampler showed up yesterday, pretty good order/shipping time from the midwest. my first reaction was, "wow, what a tiny little shipping box".. the packaging is very compact and light, i really like the fact that the pouches are transparent so you can see what's inside unlike a freeze-dry.. now, which one should i try first?? smile.gif

So I cracked open the time capsule and yanked this thread out of the tomb... 2003? 2002??? Wowzers! Does anyone have any first hand experience with these Enertia meals? They seem fairly inexpensive compared to the ol' favorites like Mountain House, Backpacker's Pantry, etc. Unless any of you kats have a better suggestion.

They are good. up.gif They are the same price as FD if you consider that FD is usually $7 for a 2 person dinner and Enertia is about half of that. I'm sure other people here will tell you what their faves are.

Enertia is a good choice, just be forewarned that it doesn't hurt to take some meat with you, if you are a carnivore. It helps fill out the meals.

Actually, I used to really like Enertia Foods meals but find they just don't meet my energy requirements. Most of their entrees are only 400 cal for a single meal so while they are filling, they leave your gas tank still on empty.

Unfortunately those 2-person meals transform into 1-person meals when I step into the arena lol.gif When it comes to eating while in the midst of Mother Nature I have a ferocious appetite that just can't be controlled by earthly means. And yes, I'm a total carnivore.

You can always make those things edible with a couple sticks of HC tongue.gif

hey i got my big case of Enertia meals a lil bit ago. 40 meals plus the maple granules and butter powder. I just got to try some out on a BCountry trip last weekend up the Quinalt over Anderson Pass and out the Dose. I found their meals large(r than the rest o them) for 1 person meals. Better priced than the big boy's 2 person meals. I tried and liked the Blue Mountain Mush, Cherokee Rice, and the SlickRock. I didn't really like - but didn't necc choke on - the Scallop dish. Mostly because the ham had an artificial texture and a blatant liquid smoke taste. At first I really liked how compact the meals are but I find that the rigidity of the packages make it difficult to utilize ALL of the space in my bear can. On the other hand, their pouches work great for prep, cleanup is null, and the Entertia wrap does exactly what it says (a bit fragile though). I found that using a bit less water than called for at first was a safe bet.

oh yeah, and it's really cool that they package them with salt and pepper too just incase Salt and Pepper are that one thing you forgot in your gear closet.

Was the wrap like this? http://www.antigravitygear.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=3_13&products_id=75 If not, the AGG ones are very nice. And well built.

The AGG cozies are well made-the ones for quart freezer bags, well I sit on them sometimes in camp, and while they make look fragile, they are not.
