I really wish they hadn't built it. The Tribe has the right to develope their lands, but fundamentally I really wish that rim hadn't been developed.
There's absolutely no way you'll catch me on that thing. I have a hard time in glass-sided elevators. Step out onto a piece of glass cantilevered thousands of feet over the canyon floor? Nuh-uh, no way, not happening.

I have to admit I don't get this one. It's $25/person plus I think $50 per car just to get on the reservation land. So $75 for a view of the Grand Canyon on some tacky bridge? No thanks. I just have a hard time seeing that many people being interested at that price.
It's true the South Rim is overrun in huge numbers of people and cars but still there is no particular development up there that rivals this on the cheesy scale.

I think its a pretty trippy idea, it would probably throw in a nice adrenaline rush to stare 4000 ft straight down from a relatively safe place. How often do you get to do that? But I'm also thrifty and wouldn't ever spend 75 bucks for it. I did however pay $10 for that Puyallup Fair "Extreme Scream" and found it very cool.

I'm not against it, though I think one skywalk is probably enough. The price is too high for me by a factor of 75. The height thing doesn't bug me. Afterall, if it breaks you have water below you, and you could probably fish and live off the land until a raft floated by.

It makes for a stupid double dog dare situation. During a thunderstorm...I double dog dare you....
Or would the glass/plastic whatever insulate you?
The closer to the top, the more bizarre that place is.
What's especially fun about sock puppets is that you can make each one unique and individual, so that they each have special characters. And they don't have to be human––animals and aliens are great possibilities

I was in the CN Tower in Toronto a few years ago and it has one part of the observation deck where the floor is made of glass. Very freaky feeling going near it! The high school kids that were there were having a blast around it, running over it and shrieking as they do best.
I've been to the Grand Canyon and it is huge! One skywalk isn't going to ruin the mystique but it does add an element that was never there before, sadly. And if that's the price, then I can think of a thousand ways to have a lot more fun for a lot less $$$.

If you go, just don't bring your unleashed dog. Or talk about guns or global warming/cooling. I think they will have a sign describing these regulations in more detail.
I will not likely be visiting this. I would prefer to just hike into the canyon and save the $75 for beer afterwards.

Not a chance. And not because I'm afraid of heights or not confident in the engineering of it either. If I'm going to drive all the way out to the Grand Canyon I want to see the natural, untouched vast openness of the thing. Putting a structure right up there, especially hanging off the edge like that, just mars the beauty of it. And then having to pay that much to access it to boot - no thanks!

I think there's enough canyon rim to go around given that's a pretty darned big hole. With hundreds of miles of rim it's hard for me to argue against the tribe using a practically infinitesimal scrap of it to try and generate some cash.
I do think they're making a big mistake in economics putting the price so high though...Ill bet the net return on a lot of people for $7 bucks beats the heck ouf the net on a tiny fraction of the passers by for $75. That price is nutz. Especially in the middle of nowhere.
Between pushing them off everywhere else, 'helping' them with Federal programs supposed to guarantee vibrant economics, learning, and social progress but instead deliver quite the opposite, we've done enough already. My vote..butt out and let them have a go with their catwalk dealo. We tell them it's their land, let them use it...without outsiders once again deciding what they want trumps what the natives want.

A novelty on par with the Springfield Monorail
The novelty will wear off soon enough and it will get torn down and the tribe will try something else (strike one was a casino) - I vote for a zip line!!!

We hiked down a little over a year ago and heard no helicopter noise. We were in the "No Fly" zone and there weren't any flies either. Funny, 2 of us being timber beastie types, we discussed the good deflection and running lines across. We decided that there wasn't enough volume to justify it. And we'd need a haulback line if we hung the skyline rim to rim.
It is true though, the farther down you go, the fewer the people. Ate dinner at Phanton Ranch and took refuge in their dining room during a rain storm. Had a good time!
