Nine of us (Beave, dicey, Stefan, Eric, Martin, Ian, myself, and two of Ian's friends) started up the "Green Ridge Trail" about 0820 on Saturday. Six of us would go for Floating Rock and Galleon while Ian and his friends would be shooting just for Floating Rock. I was happy that this would be the 6th and final time I would have to walk this steep-ass trail as Floating Rock was the last of the excuses to do it. We made good time up to about 4000' where we FINALLY found consistent snow for walking. Some of us wore crampons, some of us just chose to boot. We gained the ridge just NW of Point 4595' where me, Stefan, Martin, dicey, and Beave grouped up. From here, the five of us humped along the ridge, over Point 4595', then along more ridge to the high point due north of Green Ridge Lake. Here we dropped unneeded gear (poles and snowshoes) and headed north along the ridge towards Floating Rock. We initiated a traverse about 350' below the summit (east side) until coming to a rocky spine protruding east from the summit. We snuck through the rocks then found easy snow slopes the last couple hundred feet to the summit. It had rained/snowed on us most of the way to the top, but we enjoyed 20 minutes of "decent" weather while enjoying the summit.

We descended back down to the spot where we had climbed through and over the spine where we met Eric on his ascent. With the aid of a handline, the six of us got back around the spine then traversed back to our gear. We then headed east down an arm taking us towards Hi-Low Lake. We walked a couple hundred yards to the north of Hi-Low then went straight up slope towards Galleon. At 4700', we got into a few MFK cliff bands and had to drop a couple hundred feet and then skirt south to find a snow slope that would yield access to the south ridge of Galleon. We cut a track into the gloppy snow with the final ascent to the ridge being up a somewhat narrow gully where dicey had to contend with a few rabid pinwheels! We found a small spot on the ridge to drop packs and push out the last 100 yards to the summit. We went up 15' of wet and mildly exposed class 3 with the rest of the way up easy snow slopes. Galleon is rumored to have some of the best MFK views, but we had none of it. Snow and fog was about it.

We descended back to the top of the snow gully with the aid of two more handlines then got into a gloppy glissade most of the way back to Hi-Low Lake. We walked across the lake where Beave got the award for punching through the ice (near shore). Down the outlet towards Green Ridge Lake where once again we walked across. We followed the outlet of Green Ridge down several hundred feet on the east side then cut across and traversed back over to the trail we had used in the morning. The walk off the hill was nice and relaxed with the sun finally coming out! Not sure how far Ian and his friends got as they were gone when we returned.

Looks delightfully gray, wet, and gloppy. Perfect northwest spring conditions. I congratulate your perseverance.

Thanks for the TR Randy. Glad you got some pics; I just didn't have the usual shutter trigger finger that day.
