Just fantasizing about what I wanna take along for the after dinner eats. I did try a search but no gett can anybody recommend some mtn.house packed ones? or do ya order from a food co...... seems that every year I plan to take cheesecake or something else that I want...but it always gets left behind due to weight factors....this year I have an apprentice gnome/grom ....he will haul some extras.... Oh yet's brownies are a distinct possibility, from what I've heard, (no tasty them yet) so let's hear your tastiest experiences..or recipes.for desserts

No bake cookies!!! Think peanut butter, brown sugar, oats, choco chips rolled into duluctible lil nuggets. From there, anything goes...use that sponge between your ears and youd be suprised what you can create. Thats my gig atleast, the no bakes. I tried to bake a cake once on a whisperlite. Yep. Didn't work. Ended up just buring the hootenani out of heap of flour and yeast. Oh well. Pack some twinkies?

I would pack a hostess berry pie before I packed twinkies. eyes.gif

Touron is a nougat of Arabic origin made with almonds and honey or sugar, without which it would just not be Christmas in Spain.

On the seventh day of the Ptarmigan Traverse, when we climbed Sinister from a camp on Dome, one of the guys stayed behind becasue he didn't like the looks of the route. At the end of the day, when we got back to camp exhausted, he fed us a cheesecake he had made. Best dessert I've had in the backcountry, but I don't know what kind of mix it was.

Dried cheesecake, available in any grocery store, is a good choice. So are Jelly Bellies, freeze-dried ice cream (YUMMO) and on a cool evening, hot jello. Jello has filling properties even though in this case, it's a hot drink.

I like rich desserts on the trail, but not so much at home. A few that are trail-friendly: baklava and pecan pie. Very energy-dense and no refrigeration or preparation. Here's a whole passel of recipes for bars and brownies.

One of my favorites: up.gif http://www.trailfoods.com/grancanchees.html Already single-serving packaged, and quite rich, too.

Oh, yeah. That stuff rocks! Instant Cheesecake with chocolate chips tossed in is darned tasty. Instant pudding with cookie crumbles. Payday candy bars travel really well in a pack and don't melt. I have to give those no-bake cookies a try. They sound awesome.

A lightweight way of doing cheesecake is to get the sugar free Jello cheesecake flavor pudding mix. Put it in a quart bag with 2/3 cup dry milk. Add 1 3/4 cups cold water and shake away for a couple minutes. Really good served in the mini graham cracker crusts (they come in 6 packs) with candy or cookies crumbled on top. Winter camping I do fudge! Heavy but very good biggrin.gif

ditto.gif The best, never freezes or melts, individually portioned, not sticky on your hands, and you can dangle it like a cig when you need both hands free. ace.gif Plus its grapetasticly tasty. agree.gif That , and Trader Joes Pound Plus chocolate bars, which are appetizing any time, and provide great energy when you bonk but are too nauseous to eat real food. up.gif
