Price Lake is to my knowledge the fastest growing lake in the North Cascades since 1980. We have a number of new lakes that have formed as glaciers retreat, but in terms of existing lakes. It is a lake I have had bad luck with. I got a bit of dunking, crossing the Nooksack ruining my film in my first visit in 1984.

I wondered about that lake. Anyone been there? I asked Jen and she said it was a bushwack.

I've been there before, but a few years past. I remember a nice place. There used to be a log that was a challenging crossing on the creek. The price glacier is a very cool looking glacier!

I've been there, too. There is a fairly continuous and well-defined trail to the lake. It's a bit hard to find good camping along the shore, which is brushy at the outlet end. I ended up camping on a small flat spot along the left side shore. There, I had the unique experience of capturing a small glacier-spawned iceberg and using it to cool off my usual evening bourbon drink. The ridgeline above the north side of the lake is an interesting exploration. There is a neat heather plateau about 1000 feet up, another good camping spot possibility.

You are welcome! Realize that my info is a bit old, as I was there perhaps 8 years ago. It is likely that the "trail" is even more defined now, but who knows...

The lake in the lower right side of this Scurlock image does not exist on USGS maps. An early season cartography error? or one more depressing example of our shrinking glaciers......

Not any more depressing than either of the lakes on the other side IMO. That whole area is pretty breathtaking.

Peltoms started this thread with the assertion that

C'mon, Mauri. Let's see some statistics. prod.gif wink.gif What about Lynch Lake? (I assume that's what the lake left by the retreating Lynch Glacier is called). .................................. Did you ever get any response to your request for pics of the small Enchantments' glaciers? ....... I've got a few pics of parts of the Snow Creek Glacier, but none of them appear usefully definitive. edit - Nice pic of Lake 5240, Tom. Got any more like that?

Something lost behind the ranges. Lost and waiting for you....... Go and find it. Go!

Nice try
But the lake your refer to below the Lynch Glacier is Pea Soup Lake and it was already fairly substantial in 1978, note image taken in 1978. It developed quickly from 1972-1978.
The increase in size of Price Lake appears to be 30,000 square meters.
