I just received these from a MRNP ranger, thought I'd share them. Just the tip of the iceberg, I'm sure. I think I better start working out so I'll be ready for some serious trail maintenance in the spring... agree.gif

Whoa. That sort of carnage makes me wonder if the Tahoma Creek suspension bridge survived...

That must be the result of Rainier's version of the 130MPH winds they had on Mission Ridge. eek.gif

Something lost behind the ranges. Lost and waiting for you....... Go and find it. Go!

I might be wrong on this but I thought I read at one time the park service lowers the Tahoma Creek suspension bridge in the winter to prevent damages. If that is the case I would expect it survivied the storms ok. SR

Wow, that is horrible. I am glad I made the time this summer to get up to both those lookouts before they were destroyed. Gobbler

Big disappointment. The roof of the Fremont Lookout was torn right off. The boards on the Tahoma Creek suspension bridge are removed in the late fall. I suspect it did just fine.

Someone posting to the fire lookout group said that Tolmie and Shriner looked OK from the air. Not really all that surprising that some of these were damaged. Being situated on ridges or summits and with the age and lack of significant maintenance to these buildings makes them rather vulnerable to winds that strong.

Here is something: were they not rebuilding Fremont this past year? That would have been why it was boarded up. So maybe it isn't as bad as it seems.....

Lots of snow inside that lookout, but not alot of damage to the top other than the roof is missing. I wonder where the roof is?

Touron is a nougat of Arabic origin made with almonds and honey or sugar, without which it would just not be Christmas in Spain.

Hiked to Fremont lookout Sept 2nd (when dropping off my cache for the Wonderland) and the extensive repairs and renovations (including the roof) had just been completed. I feel for the team that slaved on it.
