I had scanned some of my old pictures that were of Lyman Glacier in August 1986 back in my horse riding days... Here is a link to the post and pictures... https://www.nwhikers.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=743739&highlight=#743739

Happy Trails... pasayten

Yes, I had noticed those images, now go back this year and find that same rock in the right foreground of your picture 49.

New post on Neve Glacier, Snowfield Peak thinning today. Below is an image from 1996 at the icefall just above the terminus.

The terminus of this glacier remains quite vigorous and retreat slow. Is this a 2012 image?

That is not a lot of snowcover for June on the terminus, it will suffer some significant melting this year.

Landsat 8 newly launched provides a good visual of glacier change on the Juneau Icefield from 1984 to 2013. Now if North Cascade glaciers were bigger satellite imagery would be more useful to monitor them.

Three items: First I need your help getting good images late this summer of glaciers, since the snowpack is low and their termini are well exposed. Post them here if you get some, and I will credit you in further work using them. Second NASA gave me a nice shout out last week. Third glacier field season video is out.

This is going to be a historic year for glacier loss. If you have any good images of glacier termini or an entire glacier. This is the year to share them and I will utilize them with a compendium in September. AGU Blog

Down south around Mt Adams, the FS is preparing a new batch of wilderness topo maps. But I'm told they decided that they did not have the funds to redo glacial sizes on them so the glaciers will still be represented by their size on older maps, and I'm guessing that is based on surveys from decades ago. frown.gif
