The clouds were there.. They were gone.. It was cold.. It was hot.. A strange day weather wise in the morning. Clouds keep rolling down I-90. The trail itself is very muddy, and wet. The crowds were a plenty. We left our car @ 8am, and were up to the summit right before 10am (with 5-6 other people up there, and seeing 2 people on the way down from the summit!). We stuck around on the summit for 30 minutes or so, becasue this was the only spot the sun was shining. On the way down we must have past 40 different people or more heading up the trail! CROWDED DAY! The bum deal was the afternoon was beautiful, and I bet the views were spectacular! I did manage to have 2 new combers to Mailbox.. My wife, and a friend of mine! Both said they would do it again!

Side Note: Mailbox is a good workout, and a great hike. So, when I am getting down 500 yards from the car, I am thinking to myself that I had a good workout today, and I am happy.... HOWEVER, 2 guys came RUNNING BACK DOWN FROM THE SUMMIT! I SAW THEM RUNNING UP AS WELL! THEY RAN THE FRICKIN TRAIL! I now feel like I am a CHUMP compared to those cats who ran up and down the mountain!!!

If you cruised up that puppy on a muddy trail in under two hours, I wouldn't feel too bad! borank.gif

Eek, I'm still working on being able to run up Si. I wonder if it's the same 2 guys I saw running around the Middle Fork area a few months ago. Their calves were massive.

Thanks for the trip report swbkrun up.gif It's good to know that the snow is practically gone up there.

Sounds like the type of guys i'd avoid hiking with. lol. I like to go at a not slow but more easy pace. My lungs can take only so much! lol. I could never run up a mountain... ever.
