Scrooge, that area is relatively safe in stable snow. After chatting with Mike in the MSN chat room he seems to be a pretty knowledgeable mountaineer who does his homework, knows how to read snow conditions, and has the right kind of equipment to do a trip like that. Heck, I'd probably go along if he twisted my arm wink.gif. I'm more worried about the hordes of snowshoers I've seen in the Source Lake basin who are pretty naive about the danger. BTW, my avatar pic was shot in that white fluffy snow desert (to the right) in the alpental chair peak link.

One of my best friends was killed in an avalanche. ...... He was a superb mountaineer, climbing with experienced companions and alert for danger.
