Guess wot? I peeked in a Forest Service truck today at the Dirtyface Lookout trailhead (which is right behind the ranger station). Lo and behold -- printed copies of NWhikers.net ramblings on the back seat. I didn't stop to read the stuff carefully, but did see some complaints about the forest service. Man, this website has considerable clout!

Forrest, I have learned more about odors, halters, and guns on this site than any other place on the internet.

Oh please. This site is diverse yes, but 90+% of the goings on here are outdoor, (read hiking, backpacking, some climbing) related!

I'd be surprised if forest service employees didn't frequent this site. Given their choice of profession you'd expect them to share a love of the outdoors. Not to mention, what better way to kill time on the net than at NWHikers?

Yeah...They probably want to keep up-to-date on all of the complainers who don't want to pay fees..... Or, they are wasting time while on the clock and if they get caught on outdoor related sites they can claim it's "research"

I would be willing to pay even more blackmail if the money ALL went to high-priority repairs like the Gray Wolf River bridge, or the High Dose bridge, or road washouts that close off access to trails. Unfortunately, most would go to new, larger restrooms at the high-use tourist-y places, or other wastefull boondogles, which would be okay if the trails were all fixed first.

What's even more interesting is being involved in admin of a site and checking the Logs...seeing where the visits come from and IP Addressess, plus how many hits happen hourly, dailey, monthly. One finds out a lot some times...
