I went up Mt. Townsend in Olympic National Forest today from the north Little Quilcene side. What a beautiful day for a hike. There was still snow on the trail in some places so I got to try out IBEX's stomp step. I don't know if it worked but I didn't get hurt so maybe it did. I seemed to keep reverting back to my old method of trying to step lightly or moving quickly if it looks like a spot where I might break through the snow.

Ah, I like that area around Townsend, especially what I call "Silver Town" near Windy Pass and Silver Lakes. http://www.alpinequest.com/silvertown.htm McPil
