Pam and I headed up to the Caroline Lakes on Monday and were able to get to the top of the ridge above the first Caroline Lake before we were stopped by snow. The trail to both Little Eight Mile and Big Eight Mile Lakes was excellent with just a couple of small blowdowns across the trail. From Little Eight Mile to the top of the ridge there were two blowdowns that were crawl arounds. At the basin just before the top of the ridge there was about a 1/4 mile stretch of snow that was not steep and was easily traveled on. The top of the ridge is clear, but beyond that to Windy Pass there's probably another 2-3 weeks of snow left. Here's a pic from the ridge top looking at Aasgard Pass and Dragontail.
